Eshott Hall Wedding Northumberland

Firstly, Vera and James’ wedding at Eshott Hall, Northumberland was quite simply one of the most wonderful wedding days.  Very relaxed but full of love and emotion.  Vera is from Portugal, so lots of her family and friends had flown over for the wedding celebrations.  The portuguese really know how to do weddings and you can imagine the excitement that was buzzing around, especially in the morning.

Secondly, their styling was so elegant and chic.  They had loosely based the wedding around the 1900s to the 1930s, so there were gorgeous touches of vintage here and there.  Vera’s long silky, beaded, tulle dress fitted the style of the wedding perfectly.  I absolutely love all the pretty details of a wedding day and was spoilt for choice here – Chanel No.5 bottles of perfume, a pretty glass ring box, very autumnal florals of dahlia, blackberries and eucalyptus (to name but a few), an incredible stationary suite that Vera had designed herself and beautiful vintage keys with handmade luggage tags for the place names.  It was absolute heaven for a fine art wedding photographer like myself…  and the cake, wow, you must scroll down to see it.  I’ve never seen a cake like it!

Finally, I think the most amazing part of the day was, of course, Vera and James’ themselves.  They are such a kind hearted couple and it’s very clear to see that they are so right for each other.  They were a pleasure to photograph, so relaxed and very much in love, making my job effortless.

I’ll never forget the moment that they were pelted with a mixture of rose petals and rice as they left the ceremony.  Such a great photograph!

If you are thinking of a vintage chic wedding at Eshott Hall or anywhere else in the world and would love romantic, soft and ethereal photographs I would love to hear from you. x

Kind Words –

‘We love photography so we knew that the photographer would be one of the most important decisions during wedding planning since, as soon as the day is over, photographs would be the only things that would allow the memories of the day to last a lifetime. We were looking for someone with a real talent, great eye and incredible good taste. I spent so many months planning the fine details of our big day, I really wanted our photographer to document this as well but in a natural, non-staged way.

As soon as I saw Katy Melling Photography work online, I knew I wanted to work with Katy. She did a perfect job in capturing the beauty of the venue and surroundings, the decoration details and our lovely guests during so many special moments and in a very natural way. She is a lovely person and a pleasure to work with and I absolutely love her ethereal style and soft use of colour and light. She really captured the essence of the day and we’ve been obsessively looking through our photos since Katy sent them through!’    Vera and James
