Newton Hall – Fine Art Wedding Photography
As much as I love my down time, I’d doubtlessly rather be away from my computer and out in the fresh air and sunshine with my camera.
Today I find myself longing for hazy summer days and a pretty wedding for me to capture in all its beauty.
Back in August last year I had this exact adventure. Along the beautiful Northumbrian coastline, located at Newton Hall was where Steph and Daniel got married. I remember waking up to glorious sunshine, I jumped onto instagram to start my day and saw Daniel’s post; it was a beautifully touching shot of his and Steph’s initials and wedding date thoughtfully drawn onto the sand at Low Newton beach. With this glimpse of romance I excitedly jumped out of bed and got ready to start the day.
I arrived at Newton Hall, greeted by a very calm Steph and her bridesmaid whom were in the midst of hair and makeup.
For me the small details of the day are very important to capture and have a starring role in my work. Of course love is at the heart of every wedding but these details are part of the story and should be remembered. So whilst preoccupied with hair and makeup, I took jewellery, shoes, the stunning bouquets, wedding stationary, and of course the dress, which was breath-taking by the way. I took all these items off to capture the pretty details and memories, which will be created throughout the day.
I then went outside to meet Daniel to get some preparation shots of him and his groomsmen, I have to say they all did look very dapper, personally I don’t think you can beat a man in black tie!
Back upstairs the bridesmaids were all ready and Steph was about to put on her gorgeous Maggie Sottero dress. Newton Hall’s Gianella room is amazing for bridal preparation shots, the room is full of natural light, decorated in pastel tones and is really spacious. This works perfectly with my light and airy style and I was able to get some stunning shots of Steph getting into her dress with the help of her bridesmaids.
The ceremony was held out on the terrace, which was perfect, as the beautiful sunny day showed no signs of leaving. Steph looked incredible walking up the aisle and with no surprise a few tears were shed. I loved having the freedom to move discreetly around during the ceremony, which meant I was able to capture all those sweet heartfelt moments.
With the ceremony finished the celebrations got underway in the gardens. With summer cocktails flowing, an acoustic guitarist playing softly in the background and an abundance of love being showered on the new couple it really was beautiful to photograph.
Whilst the drinks were flowing and the guest occupied in socialising we took a few formal family photographs, and some lovely girlie shots of Steph and her bridesmaids before heading off for a few portrait shots of Daniel and Steph around the grounds of the hall. Steph and Daniel had opted for a pre wedding shoot so I knew they wouldn’t need much in the way of direction when it came to these photographs. Their love for each other and excitement shone through and we created some beautiful shots.
I always like to capture the room before the guests come in for the wedding breakfast. The pretty details and effort put in to decorate the room meant it looked amazing! Glittering tablecloths, ruffled tulle chair backs and the most beautiful floral table centers by Bels Flowers.
They also had some amazing illuminated letters ’S & D’ from Coco Luminaire, which gave a beautifully warm glow in the background of the photographs.
As the afternoon began to turn into evening and the wedding breakfast finished I whisked Steph and Daniel off for those all important couple shots which also gave them some time on their own to take in the excitement of the day.
We first visited the wheat field, which is next to the hall and then ventured down to the beach. The setting was incredible and I absolutely adore these images. This is always my favorite time of day to do the couple portraits, in the photography world we call it the ‘golden hour’. The sun is low, which makes the light soft and glowing, the perfect scene for a perfectly loved up couple.
We got some beautiful close up shots on the beach, then I asked Steph and Daniel to go for a wander along the beachfront, allowing me to get some wonderfully natural shots of them in the distance against the stunning backdrop. This also allowed them some alone time as newly weds.
Once we had captured enough shots on the beach, we headed back for their first dance and to continue the celebrations with their friends and family.
Congratulations Steph and Daniel, it was lovely getting to know you and I thoroughly enjoyed photographing your special day x
